# Getting Started

The Confirmation of Funds API provides Customer-authorized, confirmation of available funds for all American Express® proprietary Card products including Personal, Small Business and Corporate Cards for parties certified under the Payment Service Directive 2 (PSD2) legislation.

Available for: Card Based Payment Instrument Issuers (CBPIIs) in Europe and the United Kingdom (UK) who have been authorized by their national competent authorities and CBPIIs who have applied for such authorization.

Jurisdictions: American Express Customers in Finland, France, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

### API Components

From a test technical perspective, integrating with the Confirmation of Funds API can be described in three parts:

##### Dev Portal

* American Express Developers is intended to be used by Partner development teams.
* It provides a technical specification of the API, keys for the development environment, and access to request keys for higher environments.
* American Express Developers contains multiple products, of which Confirmation of Funds API is one of them.
* The Confirmation of Funds API is a by-invite only product. You will need an exclusive invitation to gain access to this documentation from American Express.

##### Grant Access Journey

* The Grant Access Journey is used by Card Members to "connect" a Partner's product with their American Express financial information.
* The Card Member grants access to the Partner by using the American Express OAuth process.
* This journey starts from an action within the Partner's product. This action opens up the American Express login experience from within a browser where the Card Member is asked to authenticate and grant the Partner product access to their financial information.
* A Card Member can see all the Partner products for which they have granted access within [americanexpress.com](http://americanexpress.com) under the "Account Services" tab.

##### Revoke Access

* Revoke Access is an action performed by the Card Member to revoke Partner access to their American Express financial data.
* A Card Member can see all the Partner products for which they have granted access and revoke them at anytime within [americanexpress.com](http://americanexpress.com) under the "Account Services" tab.
* If the Card Member wishes to connect to the Partner product again, they need to re-initiate the Grant Access Journey process using the Partner product.
