Issuer Charge Verification API
The Issuer Charge Verification (ICV) API enables Global Network Services (GNS) issuers to share issuer charge verification results with American Express to help reduce fraud on the Network. Last Updated: April 16, 2026
Issuer Charge Verification is a functionality that allows an issuer to contact an American Express Card Member after decisioning to help verify a high-fraud risk transaction as legitimate or fraud. The ICV API allows issuers to share Card Member responses to issuer charge verification with the American Express Network. This data will help enhance network fraud detection capabilities, which will support reducing fraud on the network. NOTE: The ICV API does not enable the issuer charge verification functionality. The ICV API simply allows an issuer to share a Card Member’s response to an issuer charge verification with the American Express Network.
