Browse our Products Catalog of publicly available products. For security reasons, the API documentation pages of some of our products will be locked 🔒, and you will need to reach out to us for access to those products. Some products are not publicly listed on our website due to security reasons. If you don’t see a product that fits your use case, please reach out to us to see if there are any APIs available to suit your needs. Our products contain three major documentation resources that may suit your business needs: Overview, API Reference, and Guide. Here’s what you can expect from each:

• Overview: This page outlines the high-level business value and use cases addressed by the product. The access request process is also launched for some products from this page.
• API Reference: This page contains the API specifications for that product. For some products, this page may be locked. So, you’ll need to reach out to our team for access.
• Guide: This page covers detailed instructions on integrating and using the product. Not every product will have a Guide page, and some require access granted to view them.

Reach Out

If you have identified a product that suits your use case and need access to it, please reach out to our team. We will work with you to provide you with access to it, and get you up and running as soon as possible. For some of our public products, the Sandbox APIs are automatically accessible without reaching out to us. For these products, you can simply create an account and start testing them yourself.

Sign Contracts

If needed, you will be required to sign contractual agreements to receive full access to our products. We will work with you to gather important information and have relevant documents signed so that you can move forward with your integration with American Express APIs.

Sign Up and Get Access

Once you’re ready to get started with your integration with American Express APIs, head over to our Sign Up page and create an account. Once you’re logged in, you can create a new Project to request access to and manage your integrations. Head over to our “Getting Started” page for more information on this. If you’ve received an invitation from American Express Developers to integrate with API products that aren’t publicly listed, you will have full access to them after successfully logging in.

Test in the Sandbox Environment

You can leverage our Sandbox environment to test your integration using your Sandbox credentials. You can refer to the API Reference page of the product you’re integrating with to learn more about the APIs. You might be required to upload certificates and authentication information to get full access to the API product.

Go Live!

Once you finish building and testing your integration, you’re ready to go live! You can follow the instructions in the UI to promote your integration to Production. When it’s fully approved, you’ll receive a set of Production credentials to go live. You might be required to accept legal terms, and upload certificates and authentication information again.
